Strasburg… The Greed Culture of the MLB

17 Aug 2009

The MLB draft offers players and teams a leap forward as players join the professional ranks and team need new good, young players to further their franchise. For the draftees, this is their first shot at big money and it could be their last. The upfront money these player’s only professional cash so i can see the need and the fear that drives the exorbinant negotiations that go on with each draft class. But I have a problem with players demanding top level contracts with no pro game experience, and I cannot imagine veterans being ok with a player coming in and making that kind of money. Scott Boras, MLB super agent, has negotiated some ridiculous contracts i recent history and he usually gets what he wants so i am worried about this draft class having so many players being represented by him. Today is the last day to sign draft picks so lets see where this takes the MLB.
