According to his spokesman, probation officials kept Eagles quarterback Michael Vickfrom attending his own golf tournament in Georgia and a summer camp in North Carolina whose director called the QB “selfish.”

“They called early, like 2 o’clock (Sunday) morning, telling us he’s not coming,” said Cornelius Corprew, director of Camp Elite Sports’ two-day football camp. “And then we couldn’t speak to him. It was through one of his associates. We’re not crazy. No state agency is communicating at 2 o’clock in the morning that he’s not allowed to come. I think that was a selfish act.”

Corprew said Vick was paid half his $,4000 fee and that campers were promised photos and autographs.

“I’m upset because our camp is built on integrity and character and that’s what we teach to our kids,” Corprew said.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy is to hold a government meeting on Wednesday to discuss the country’s disastrous World Cup showing.

Sarkozy will also meet Thierry Henry, at the striker’s request on Thursday, as the inquest into the events of South Africa 2010 begins.

France went out in the group stage after a campaign marred by infighting.

Striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home after a row with boss Raymond Domenech, prompting the team to go on strike.

Prime Minister Francois Fillon, sports minister Roselyne Bachelot and junior sports minister Rama Yade will join Sarkozy to discuss how a country that won the World Cup in 1998 and reached the final in 2006 could manage just one point and a single goal at the 2010 edition.

“Those responsible for this disaster must accept the consequences, first the players, then the team management and after them the football federation,” Bachelot told Europe 1 radio on Wednesday.

France drew 0-0 with Uruguay in their first game, lost 2-0 to Mexico and were eliminated on Tuesday night after a 2-1 defeat to South Africa.

The French Football Federation have also promised to meet in July to discuss the campaign.

But captain Patrice Evra, who was dropped by Domenech for the South Africa match, says he will reveal details of what happened in the French camp before then.

“I promise to tell the truth about every minute of what I went through,” said Manchester United defender Evra. “French people need to know the truth because the France team belongs to them and nobody else.

“It’s time for us to apologise. It hurts even more because that could have been done on Monday. I could have done it as the team captain but the coach would not let me.”

Domenech and his players were lambasted in the French press on Wednesday.

The end of the road for France

“The end of one world” was the headline in sports daily L’Equipe, which accused Domenech of “taking people for fools”.

Le Parisien carried a front-page headline over a photograph of Domenech saying: “Thank you and goodbye!”

Meanwhile, football’s governing body Fifa said it had not decided yet whether to take action against Domenech for refusing to shake the hand of South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira following the match on Tuesday.

The Brazilian said he believed the snub related to comments he had made about France’s qualification for the tournament, which owed much to a handball by Henry in their play-off win over Ireland in November.

In a list of the most embarrassing and miserable ends? to a career, Brett Favre has to be on top.

I grew up in the Brett Favre years of the NFL when he was the man, i would pretend to be Favre and throw a football as hard as i could at the fence just like a Favre to Freeman combo. He was my favorite player for the later half of the 90’s and the early new millenium. His freewheelin style just made him seem like everybody, he enjoyed playing the game. He was not out there for the money or the fame but to play the game. He was living every kids dream. BUT THEN HE GOT OLD.

Old age changes people, and when Favre got close to the end he panicked. His admiration for the game made him unable to disconnect, he could not stop. One might think how noble, to want to play forever and help teams win. But reality has to set in at some point, you cannot play forever, with this revelation, I began to hate Brett Favre.

He could have gone out on top. Favre could have been a god in Wisconsin. I won’t go into the whole retirement story because it has been constantly on ESPN for over a year.

With his most recent “commitment” to retiring, brings a whole new speculation of a return. Favre needs to finish this story so i NEVER HAVE TO SEE HIM AGAIN. Sitting on the sidelines is not going to suit Favre and the speculation will return next summer and ruin my life just like it did this summer.

The Vikings, Packers, and Tarvaris Jackson have much more of a reason to hate Favre than I. Brett Favre tooled with the idea of signing with his former teams arch-rival for a whole summer only to say he is not coming back. How must Jackson feel now that he is clearly their second choice and the whole team has been calling Favre begging him to come play. His offensive linemen, the players who are suppose to protect Jackson, were calling Favre daily. The Packers watched their legend go and play for other people and tarnish his legacy with Packer fans. They lost their media darling cash cow.

Brett Favre or Sarah Palin- Who are you more annoyed with?
